September 22nd, 2025 Meeting
President Dennis Pratt called the meeting to order at 6:02 PM at Kro Bar.
Officers and Directors: Present – Ed Chaplinski, Glen Hill, Courtney Johnson, Ken Lundberg, Dennis Pratt, Mike Sierszen, Den Smet, Jeff Stollenwerk, Walt Swanson, Jim Waletzko and Dean Wellman.
Minutes of the August Meeting: The minutes as written in the September newsletter were approved following a motion by Walt Swanson, second by Ken Lundberg and unanimous approval by voice vote.
Treasurer’s and Financial Secretary’s Reports: Treasurer Jeff Stollenwerk reported that August’s beginning balance was $8,584.95, and the ending balance was $8,359.88 with the following expenses: AK reimbursement (Family Fun Day supplies) $970.57; DP reimbursement (expenses Apr28 to Aug05) $719.82; Katie Thompson (August Newsletter) $200.00; transfer to savings (July Donations) $200.00. The Treasurer’s report was approved following a motion by Courtney Johnson, second by Ken Lundberg and unanimous approval by voice vote. Financial Secretary Dean Wellman reported that there were $1,330.00 in total deposits into the general fund since the last meeting and that the Club had 3 new members and 3 membership renewals. The Financial Secretary’s report was approved following a motion by Jim Waletzko and a second by Mike Sierszen.
Committee Reports
Legislative, Audit, Education, Scholarship Committees: Nothing to report.
Habitat: Dennis Pratt flew his drone over this summer’s Habitat project to document our efforts.
Membership: Jim Waletzko/Ed Chaplinski – Ed had the chance to talk with a couple of guys this month and both Ed and Jim dropped off paper newsletters to local businesses.
Social Media: Mike Zicus/Dennis Pratt – Several discussions about potential newsletter topics.
Other Business
Fly of the Month – Dean Wellman. Fly is dedicated to Joe Brooks and Dave Pinckowski.
Paper Newsletter Printing Delay – Dennis Pratt reports that it takes about a week to get these now. This will impact those getting paper newsletters.
Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo – To be held March 13 – 15, 2026 and we are looking for someone to take charge of this event.
Winter Meeting Schedule – Starting in November we will switch to online Board Meetings until spring. These meetings are limited to 30 minutes, and Walt Swanson will be assisting Board Members with connection training immediately after October’s meeting.
Membership Stickers – Ed Chaplinski will be reordering 1,000 stickers as we are just about out.
