Habitat Work Day Details
When: August 8 at 9 AM.
Where: Brule River Fish Hatchery.
This project will involve cutting streamside alder along a section of the Little Brule River immediately downstream of the Hatchery to help maintain and restore trout habitat. Extensive alder growth attracts beavers that build dams and block trout and salmon from reaching a critical spawning area immediately downstream of the hatchery. This work is part of a long-term effort to restore an evergreen forest that is unfavorable as beaver food. Please bring waders or hip boots and gloves. Lunch (Subway sandwiches and soda/water) will be provided.
See you there!
