Vegetative Cover of the Brule River Watershed Re-visited
Researchers at the Lake Superior Research Institute University of Wisconsin Superior recently completed Phase I of a study of the plant communities of the Brule River watershed (1852, 1944, and 2016), comparing data from 2 earlier studies with their current findings. The first part of the Phase I study focused on changes in species richness, biodiversity, introduced plants, floristic quality, and rare plant findings. The second part examined changes in the Brule River Forests (1968-2016), specifically changes in tree and sapling density, dominance and importance values by species and forest community types across these time periods.
