President Dennis Pratt called the meeting to order at 6:04 PM at Round-Up North in Brule.
Officers and Directors: Present – Dennis Pratt, Bill Gobin, Walt Swanson, Jeff Stollenwerk, Paul Helbach, Courtney Johnson, Mike Zicus, Dennis Smet, and Ron Gaare.
Minutes of the April 24 Meeting: The minutes as written in the May newsletter were approved following a motion by Jeff Stollenwerk and a second by Bill Gobin and unanimous approval by voice vote.
Treasurer’s and Financial Secretary’s Reports: Financial Secretary Bill Gobin reported that there was one deposit of $393.00 in May into general fund. The Financial Secretary’s Report was approved following a motion by Dennis Smet and a second by Ron Gaare. Treasurer Jeff Stollenwerk reported that May’s beginning balance was $ 8,729.00, and the ending balance was $ 8,352.06 with the following expenses: Jeff Stollenwerk (Breakfast rolls for clean-up) for $54.95; Round Up North (Spring Clean-up Lunch) for $344.00; Round Up North (Annual Habitat Meeting Food) for $110.99; Katie Thompson (April Newsletter) for $200.00; Joe Scaccia (May Meeting) for $50.00. Note – We have not yet received invoices from Arrowhead Printing for March, April and May newsletters. These invoices are approximately $260 per month. The Treasurer’s Report was approved following a motion by Bill Gobin and a second by Dennis Smet and unanimous approval by voice vote.
Habitat: Ron Gaare/Dennis Pratt – nothing to report.
Legislative: Ken Lundberg – no report.
Scholarship: Paul Helbach – nine applicants, a very good pool of applicants for the scholarship. Five or six applicants from UW Steven Point. The committee will meet of June 26th to discuss candidates. Because we have such a good pool should we split the scholarship, decided to stay at one scholarship for $5,000.
Education: Dennis Smet – nothing to report, however Dennis made the recommendation to donation $125.00 to both the Cub Scout Pack and the Boy Scout Troop for volunteering at the Spring Cleanup. This was approved following a motion by Bill Gobin and a second by Mike Zicus and unanimous approval by voice vote.
Membership: Jim Waletzko – no report.
Budget: Ron Pearson – no report.
Communications (Web & Facebook Pages) – Mike Zicus/Dennis Pratt – Mike reported that there has been an issue with communications from Contact Us link on the Club’s Website, and member messages have not been making it to his inbox. Mike is hoping all messages are in a queue and will be delivered once problem/service is repaired. The April newsletter is our first attempt to deliver the newsletter in digital format. Our Facebook page went live on April 28th and we have 159 followers as of today. Dennis reported that his County Highway P video had 1,366 plays in 13 days.
South-Shore Grade on Nebagamon Creek Issue – nothing to report. Mike Zicus will keep posting each month on the website.
Family Fun Day – Bill Gobin Saturday June 3rd – Four confirmed volunteers so far and several have communicated their intent, more are still needed. Bill will be there at 8:30, event to begin at 10:00 AM.
Brule Preservation Annual Meeting – Dennis Pratt will attend. This meeting is held on Memorial Day every year.
Brule River Roundtable 3rd Annual – Saturday August 12th 8:30-12:00 – Northwestern High School Commons – started by the Brule River Preservation – the committee is requesting $125.00 donation from the Club. Bill Gobin made a motion to approve and a second was made by Jeff Stollenwerk followed by unanimous approval by voice vote.
Brule River Lions Club Barbecue – Sunday August 13th 10:00-2:00PM
