President Dennis Pratt emailed the draft meeting notes to board members on July 27th.
Minutes of the June Meeting: Motion was made to approve by Ron Gaare, seconded by Paul Helbach and approved without changes by the board.
Treasurer’s and Financial Secretary’s Reports: Financial Secretary Dean Wellman submitted his report to the board on July 24th. Deposits in the general fund totaled $295.00 since the last meeting, and the Club had 3 new members. The Financial Secretary’s Report was approved without changes by the board following a motion from Ron Gaare and a second by Paul Helbach. Treasurer Jeff Stollenwerk reported to the board on July 27th that July’s beginning balance was $15,997.67 and the ending balance is $15,711.26 with the following expenses: Pro Print (June Newsletter – $25.70), Dennis Pratt (Postage/Shipping – $29.13) and Katie Thompson (July Newsletter – $200.00). Three donations totaling $510.00 were transferred to Scholarship Savings. The Treasurer’s Report was approved without changes by the board following a motion by Ken Lundberg with a second by Ron Gaare.

Scholarship: College Scholarship – Chairman Mike Sierszen reported that an email was sent to this year’s college scholarship recipient, Dakota Stankowski. Mike has requested a short article for a future newsletter from Dakota. Jeff Stollenwerk has sent her $5,000 scholarship check to Northland College in her name.

Social Media: Website – Mike Zicus has been responding to several website inquiries and is working on a map to be linked to from the ‘About the River’ page with interactive photos of various locations along the river.
Facebook – Pratt reported that we have placed 8 items on the Club’s Facebook site this month including a popular drone photo of the mouth of the Brule.
South Shore Grade Update – Nothing new to report
Fly of the Month – The August fly of the month, the ‘Olive Woolhead Sculpin’ was submitted by Club member Paul Gausman.
Brule Spey Day – The Lake Superior Steelhead Association will hold its 5th annual Spey Day on September 12, 2020, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Social distancing and masks will be required.
