2019 Brule River Sportsmen's Club College Scholarship Recipient

We selected Brent Blaylock as our 2019 Brule River Sportsmen's Club College Scholarship recipient, and Brent accepted the $5,000 scholarship at our July board meeting. Brent graduated from Solon Springs High School in 2016 and will be a senior at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point this coming year where he’s majoring in Forest Management. Brent is currently working as a forester for Bell Lumber and Pole and has worked there since his junior year of high school. He’s accepted a full time job with Bell Lumber and Pole in Northwestern Wisconsin after graduation next year. By working as a forester in this region, Brent plans on helping implement forest management that will maintain the great quality forests and waters we enjoy today. Brent says he will be able to help maintain the Brule’s world class trout fishery that many of us love. Having grown up in Solon Springs, Brent has always hunted and fished in the Brule Headwaters, and the Brule River has been an important place to generations of Brent’s family as they’ve all enjoyed fishing the river.

Congratulations Brent!
