2018 Scholarship Recipient

We selected Kendall Hill as our 2018 scholarship recipient, and Kendall accepted the $5,000 scholarship at our July board meeting. Kendall earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2014, graduated from Duluth East High School in the spring of 2016, and started at the University of Minnesota Duluth in fall of 2016. He is beginning his junior year studying civil engineering and is a member of the varsity Cross Country and Track and Field teams. This summer, Kendall is working on a survey crew with the Minnesota Department of Transportation collecting information that is used to improve our roads and bridges. He hopes to build his career at either the Minnesota or Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Kendall believes it’s important to have people in transportation departments who are interested in preserving our trout streams because it’s more work to provide culverts with natural bottoms and many contractors and engineers are hesitant to design and implement those. Having engineers that care about streams, especially trout streams, will be essential for the future of our trout. Whenever he’s not running or studying, Kendall fishes Lake Superior and its tributaries.

Congratulations Kendall!
