The Club has aquariums with water chillers in the Northwestern Middle School located in Maple and Superior Senior High School this year. In recent years, 500 eyed-egg stage lake trout from the Iron River National Fish Hatchery (click on Iron River Hatchery to read about the hatchery) have been placed in each aquarium. Students have been able to observe the early life from egg hatching to swim-up fry. Two board members visited the schools in early March and presented aspect of trout biology and stream ecology to the classes. This year’s program reached 200 students during the nine classes.  Click on Aquarium Project to read about the history of this project.
