Other Business

Trout prints by Elizabeth Wucherer – Any prints hand signed in pencil by the artist and numbered 1/150 through 150/150 belong to the Club to use as they wish.  A price of $30.00 per print was suggested, followed by a motion by Walt Swanson and a second by Dennis Smet and unanimous approval by voice vote.

Nomination of Officers – No new nominations have been received.  Ballots will go out with renewals; envelope stuffing will be done after the November meeting.

South Shore Grade Update – Dennis Pratt – DNR now estimates the cost of the project to be ~ $120,000. They have $41,000 earmarked for the project. Since we have been spearheading the project and we are getting promises of financial support from the Izaak Walton League, Trout Unlimited, Douglas County Fish and Game League, and hopefully the Lake Superior Steelhead Association, Ken Lundberg suggested in an email that the club should donate $1,000 towards the South Shore Grade removal. A GoFundMe effort was suggested as a possible way to raise funds for the removal. Jeff Stollenwerk will look into what is involved. This received a motion by Dennis Smet and a second by Mike Zicus and unanimous approval by voice vote.

Email of newsletter to Members Project Progress – Discussion on increasing the cost of membership for members who still want to receive a paper copy starting January 2018.  Suggestion was to increase the membership cost by $10.00 per year if members still want a paper copy.  This received a motion by Bill Gobin and a second by Mick Killoren, followed by unanimous approval by voice vote.

Lake Superior Fisheries Management Plan Progress – meetings will be held once a month.  This is a great opportunity to create a workplan for the DNR to follow.
